Michael Z Schubert
To be honest it is about you, the client. My personal approach to working with an individual (or a group) is to meet you where you are, to assist you in making the transformation that you want.
My role varies with each person and situation. Your role is to be clear and honest with me and with yourself. I want to understand your uniqueness and tailor our sessions to you. Having a holistic approach in part is recognising all that makes you unique, whether it is your physiology, health status, gender, cultural heritage, spiritual or religious background, belief system, age (to name a few criteria) – and working with you.
I am an expert in behaviour management, specifically in relation to habit change, anxiety reduction and lifestyle change. I have worked extensively with clients to teach them to modify physiological states using self-hypnosis. Most importantly, I have over 40 years experience working directly with clients to resolve health and lifestyle issues. I am always refining and adapting my techniques and continue to research and study in order to find the best solutions for my clients. That research and experience led me to develop online programs for smoking.
I hold University qualifications in Psychology [Graduate Diploma from the University of New England], Science and Society [Masters Degree from the University of NSW] and Biological Sciences [Bachelor’s Double Degree from the University of NSW]. I studied counselling and psychotherapy [Jansen-Newman Institute] and designed and taught a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling at [Nature Care College].
My Masters Thesis investigated mesmerism, which is often viewed as part of the foundation of hypnosis and psychotherapy. I completed advanced training with experts including Michael Yapko and Andrew Newton. I was a Researcher, Foundation Lecturer and Curriculum Developer of the Bachelor of Naturopathic Medicine [Southern Cross University].
I have been the principal of a private Naturopathy College [Sydney College of Naturopathy and Traditional Chinese Medicine], consultant to Academic and Natural Health Associations in Australia [including Australian Natural Therapists Association and internationally [including Global Initiative for Traditional Systems of Health based at Oxford University]. I have served as a Director of several Natural Medicine associations [Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia [where I was the Examiner], Australian Traditional Medicine Society, Psychophysical Therapists Guild of Australia [for some years as President]. I have Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas in Clinical and Humanistic Hypnosis as well as Diplomas in Herbalism and Nutrition.
In relation to online education and delivery of digital content and audio files, I hold diplomas in Digital Content Production and Sound Fundamentals from the Australian Film Television and Radio School. I spent several years producing and presenting an informative weekly 1 hr radio program [mindwaves], recorded over 40 podcasts reporting on university research [Soundminds Radio] and produced an award winning radio documentary In Search of Silence.
